Becca is a bit like a cat — she’s gone through a few “lives” to get to her current one (with which she’s quite pleased).
Though she was born with the instinct to write, as a teenager she decided a career in film and television would be more “practical” (don’t ask her the logic behind that). She earned her MFA in Cinema-Television Production at USC’s famed film school, and her first career was as a music editor (if you’ve watched Scrubs, you’ve likely heard her work).
Becca found her way to career number two through martial arts. She has studied Shintaido, Wushu, Sanshou, BJJ, Muay Thai, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, and MMA. Using her network, she began to work with professional MMA fighters: building websites, organizing fight promotions, and producing short-form and long-form video projects.
As a competitor in BJJ herself, Becca wanted to get stronger and fitter. In 2005, she became a student at CrossFit Los Angeles. In only a couple years, she became CrossFit Level III Certified, earned her NSCA-CSCS, and dedicated herself full time to coaching.
After eight years as fitness instructor (and many writing courses), Becca segued to her current career — full-time editor and writer. In addition to producing print and online content, she has also been known to teach online writing courses. She has coached many people privately on projects ranging from blog content to published books.
She has also ghostwritten a lot of interesting things she can’t tell you about.
In 2019, she joined the content team at FinanceBuzz (a Launch Potato company) and has flourished there. She began as an Editor, then moved up to Senior Editor, Managing Editor, and now Director of Editorial Strategy. She manages a team of amazing professionals who produce high-quality content on a daily basis for a variety of platforms and websites. She loves to geek out on SEO, revenue spreadsheets, and what Google can teach us about what readers actually want to know.
She and her husband were full-time RVers for over five years. They spent their time driving in giant circles around North America, but have now settled down in the Black Hills of South Dakota and live in a wheel-less house.
Her first short story was published by concīs. Since then she has been published in many journals. She is considered an expert on a wide range of topics on which she writes, including RV life, personal finance, health and fitness, travel, food, and much more.
